Rita Abbott (K)

Educational Background
I have thirty years of experience teaching early childhood and elementary school, with twenty five years in teaching kindergarten. I have a Bachelor of Science from the University of Tennessee, with fifteen hours of Master's work at Purdue University. I have taught school in four states - Iowa, Indiana, Tennessee and Arkansas.

AutoBiography
I am originally from Tennessee, and have lived in Muscatine for the past sixteen years. My husband Dave and I have two daughters, Kylie and Christie, one son-in-law and two grandchildren that I adore. Kylie lives in Connecticut with her husband and two children, while Christie is a sophomore majoring in education at UNI.

Our favorite family vacation spot is the Great Smokey Mountains in East Tennessee. I enjoy reading, going to movies, visiting with family (particularly grandchildren), walking, and growing flowers in the summertime. I also love the sense of wonder and humor of five year olds.

Favorite Book
My favorite fiction books are those by Karen Kingsbury and Jodi Picoult.

Favorite Quote
"They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel."
- Carol Buchner

Favorite Band/Musician
My favorite musicians are Brandon Heath, Trace Adkins, Rascal Flats, Sugarland and Dr. Jean.
